Year 8 students at Goffs Academy recently took part in some of the YC Hertfordshire Services for Young People “Navigate Your Future” workshops where they explored careers, the diversity of the jobs market, skill sets needed for the future job sector, and what steps they need to take in the next few years to identify the career path they want to pursue.

A celebration of LGBT+ History took place at the Trestle Arts Base this week, with the launch of an anthology of poems about gender, identity and diversity, with Hertfordshire County Council - YC Hertfordshire Services for Young People.

Hertfordshire is reported in the 2011 census as being the third highest Traveller population in the Eastern region, home to some 53 Traveller sites with approximately 1300 Traveller children between 0 and 19 years of age. Around 35% of schools in Hertfordshire currently have Traveller pupils on roll. Set against this backdrop, we are pleased to be able to share news of an innovative and ground breaking targeted programme, supporting the young Traveller community in the county.

More than 100 young people who attend YC Hertfordshire LGBT+ youth projects across the county joined together for the annual Pride Prom.

Fourteen young people from Sir John Lawes School worked with Youth Workers from Hertfordshire County Councils targeted youth service, YC Hertfordshire, to complete The Royal Society for Public Health’s Young Health Champions course over the last academic year, equipping them with the skills to provide mental health support to their peers.
