The countryside charity, CPRE, is passionate about supporting communities across England and creating accessible green spaces for everyone to enjoy. Each year, the charity celebrates the achievements of individuals and groups who have worked to protect, promote and enhance Hertfordshire’s countryside for the benefit of the local communities.

The theme for the 2022 CPRE Award nominations was connecting people with the countryside, promoting rural life and improving or protecting the environment. This year, 25 Hertfordshire-based projects and people were nominated, including the SfYP Go Wild at Hudnall project.

Since 2019, the Go Wild at Hudnall project has enabled approximately 600 children and young people aged 5 to 24 and their families to access nature. Focused on improving the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, the project enables young people to connect with wildlife and engage in a wide range of nature-based activities. It also offers opportunities to volunteer to create and improve wildlife habitats at Hudnall Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The awards ceremony was held at County Hall in Hertford on 18 October 2022 and the SfYP Go Wild at Hudnall team was proud to receive the silver standard certificate. An SfYP Go Wild People & Wildlife Officer said:

“It’s great to know that young people’s emotional wellbeing and nature connection is being recognised as important and that word is getting out there about the Go Wild at Hudnall project. I hope that receiving this will enable us to support even more young people.”

If you know of any young people who would benefit from taking part in the Go Wild at Hudnall project, please contact the Services for Young People Go Wild at Hudnall team to find out more or book.

Delivered by SfYP in partnership with Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, Go Wild at Hudnall is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
